What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner? A psychiatric nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with an advanced practice license that specializes in a specific field. In this case, I specialize in psychiatric mental health medication.
Do you prescribe medications? Yes. Think of a psychiatric nurse practitioner as a psychiatric provider. I am licensed to diagnose, treat, and prescribe psychiatric medications to clients.
Do you take insurance? Yes, I accept most commercial insurances and also offer low cost self-pay options.
Do you take medicare or medicaid? I do not accept medicare or medicaid insurance at this time. Per the Ohio Department of Medicare and Medicaid, you cannot pay out of pocket if you have coverage with them.
What if I don't want to take medication? Not everyone who comes to see a psychiatric provider is prescribed medication. Sometimes, clients want to establish an open channel of communication to have the options provided for them or to gain more information.
So if I don't get medication, what do you do? Like any provider, we can discuss symptoms, ways to address symptoms without medications, give referral options, as well as order blood work or supplement options
What if I need paperwork completed for work or disability? I only complete paperwork for clients once we have established care. If it is a time sensitive matter, you'll need to discuss with your primary care provider, your therapist, or your previous psychiatric provider.
How soon do you have available appointments? I am currently booking clients 4-5 weeks from today.
I am a current patient, how do I get ahold of you? Utilize the Inner Bloom patient portal (where you completed your intake forms) and send a message via that portal.
Why should I choose you? Maybe you're used to typical looking providers providing you typical in-and-out care. Nothing about me is typical. I look different than most professionals and I practice differently too!
Can I see you if I am traveling out of the state or don't live in Ohio? The short answer is no. I am licensed to practice in the state of Ohio only and you must be present in the state in order to be seen.
How do I schedule with you? Head over to the insurance tab to see what commercial insurances I accept and then fill out an appointment request form under the booking tab.
Is our session in person or virtual? You decide! I work virtually Tuesday-Thursday and offer select Fridays in person.
What happens in the first appointment? Our first session is an intake session to discuss your current complaints, medications, symptoms, and goals for treatment. It takes about an hour and we collect a complete history of your mental and physical health.
What happens after the first appointment? We discuss whether we are a good fit and options moving forward. We schedule our first follow up session for 30 minutes and meet at an agreed upon cadence.
Can I be added to your cancellation list for a sooner appointment? Yes, if you complete all required intake paperwork and portal set up upon receipt, I can add you to my cancellation list in the event an earlier slot becomes available.
Why does it take a while to see you? Many psychiatric providers have a waiting list upwards of several months or longer. Because of the level of care I provide, my intake slots tend to book very quickly.
I messaged you but I haven't received a response, now what? I answer messages during my working hours. Most often, if you haven't received a response yet, it is because it is Friday-Monday (and I am out of office) or because it is after hours (I work 10am-7pm Tuesday-Thursday)
